HIT
HUMAN INTELLIGENCE TASK
Humans are much more effective than computers at solving some types of problems, like finding specific objects in pictures or evaluating beauty.
HIT stands for Human Intelligence Task. These tasks are extraordinarily difficult for computers, but simple for humans to answer.
A HIT represents a single, self-contained task that you can perform to completion and collect a reward.
For businesses and entrepreneurs who want tasks completed, the Amazon Mechanical Turk web service solves the problem of getting work done in a cost-effective manner by people who have the skill to do the work. The service provides access to a vast network of human intelligence with the efficiencies and cost-effectiveness of computers.

Ok, this is cool, but it is not fun and it does not pay well. Here comes into play Luis von Ahn, who found a way to encourage people to work for free! He transformed super-boring tasks like labeling the web into fun activities. People are willing to do the job for free because they are having fun while doing it: it's not a job anymore, it's a network GAME!
