WiBro vs WiMax
WiBro, also known as 2.3GHz portable Internet, is designed to allow people on the go to be connected to the Net at a transmission speed of 2Mbps. Korea Telekom (KT) launched its WiBro (wireless broadband) service in the city of Busan back in November 2005. This year the service will be introduced in most parts of the country.
WiMax and WiBro are grouped under the same 802.16 family of standards. That, however, does not say very much about whether the two will be compatible. Intel could come out with a WiMax standard that could be incompatible with the WiBro standard produced by LG, Samsung and other Korean companies.
