GIZMONDO:
THE ULTIMATE GIZMO

The Gizmondo from Tiger Telematics plays digital music, movies and video games (co-publishing deal between EA and Gizmondo has just been signed) on a 2.8-inch TFT color screen (320 x 240 pixels). This new handheld also includes GPS satellite tracking services, WAP 2.0, 3D games engine and graphics accelerator and a Gyroscopic Camera. You can even turn the whole Gizmondo into an analog game controller that uses the camera to detect movement. By combining the Gyroscopic Camera and the GPS functionality Gizmondo users will be able to experience "augmented reality" adventure games (that are currently being developed).
"Until now we have concentrated on communicating the six core functions of the Gizmondo, namely games, movies, music, messaging, a digital camera, and GPS," explained Tiger Telematics Co-founder and Chairman, Carl Freer. "Our agenda for this industry focal event is to demonstrate to media and trade how the Gizmondo becomes greater than the sum of its parts when we begin to combine these functions and integrate them into entertainment content that is exclusive to this new handheld format."
The Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE advanced real-time operating system and it uses Windows Media Player for play back of both music and video files. It is the first product to use NVIDIA's new GoForce 3D 4500 media processor. The device was launched a couple of days ago in the U.K. and Germany, and it should be available in the States in August.
