DVD-BANG

DVD bang (rooms) are all over Seoul, notably in shopping areas like Meong-dong. For 13,000 Korean Won (approximately US$13), you pick a DVD of your choice from a range of Hollywood, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and art films. You will be provided a room ('bang') where you can enjoy a private screening of the DVD via a beamer onto a big screen. A typical room comfortably sits 4 people (on what looks like a wall-to-wall sofa bed with no legs), and you are welcome to bring your own snacks. In Korea, DVD bang is popular with dating couples and is considered classier than a bideobang (video room).
Other types of bang:norae-bang (karaoke room), PC-bang (computer game room), nori-bang (playroom), aga-bang (nursery room), manhwa-bang (comics rental), chaek-bang (bookstore), yak-bang (pharmacy), bokdeok-bang (real estate office).
