NINTENDO GBA/GAMECUBE SALES UPDATE
Last May, Kyoto-based Nintendo said it aimed to sell six million GameCube consoles and 20 million GBA machines worldwide in the business year (end: March 2004).
Nintendo's past quarter (April, May, June) sales figures:
:. 80,000 GameCube consoles worldwide - shocking weak sales of GameCube!
:. 3.24 million Game Boy Advance (GBA) - GBA SP, the newest entry in the Game Boy line,
has seen strong demand since its February-March launch worldwide.
Sales in April-June were 83.82 billion yen, up five percent from the same period a year ago
In terms of operating profit, April-June earnings amounted to only 21 percent of its first-half forecast of 35 billion. On the other hand, Nintendo, typically earns around 70 percent of its operating profits in the second half, when the Christmas shopping season pushes up demand.
