1 MILLION GAME BOY ADVANCE SP HAVE BEEN SOLD!
Game Boy Advance SP ($99), has sold more than 1.1 million units since its late-March launch. Until today, the Game Boy has easily beaten back all competitors since the line was introduced in 1989.
Nintendo will contend its monopoly with two new entrants into the market later this year, a Palm OS-based device from a new company called Tapwave and the Nokia n-gage (cell phone/game deck combination from Nokia).
Nintendo will also have to contend in 2004 with the PSP, the first portable gaming device from Sony Corp, which overtook Nintendo in the market for game consoles in the mid-1990s with the launch of its first PlayStation.
