APPLE HOLISTIC PRODUCT LINE
"Hardware-Software-Peripherals-Services" that take full advantage of digital music distribution (iTunes Music Store + iTunes + iPod). According to the Apple press release, there have been 1 million music downloads in the first week @.99/each. Once the service will be available to everyone (wintel world), we could be seeing 5 million downloads/week. This means Apple could be adding approximately 260 million in immediate revenue of which they will see 35%. We're talking about $91 million/year.
I would say that Steve Jobs has made a very bright move, and by year end we will have Apple's software on our windows machines.
In light of the above facts, we could forecast Apple selling the successful music business in a couple of years.
